Dr. Burns serves as the Interim Dean of the OU School of Community Medicine and holds the George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine. Under his leadership, the region's residency programs have seen unprecedented growth, including a tripling of faculty size and significant expansion in clinical training capabilities.
Beyond his academic post, he is the Chief of Staff at Hillcrest Medical Center and has recently served as President of the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD).
A recipient of the prestigious EMRA Chair of the Year Award, Dr. Burns is a frequent contributor to leading medical journals and a prominent voice at national conferences, dedicated to the advancement of emergency medical education and practice.
